Karl Scofield
"Art is in the mind of the viewer. Working with no attachment to meaning or purpose. . . flowing only with line and shape, color and form. . staying out of the way of the creative force. . . at peace within the chaos of ambigious space and form. . . with clear mind, the painting paints itself. What organically arises from the void is only a point of departure. In truth, the art is created by the mechanics of perception unique to each viewer."
Karl Scofield received a B.F.A. from The College of William and Mary in 1986. He studied Zen Buddism at Dai Bosatsu Zendo in upstate New York. He lives and paints in Frederick, Maryland.
