15 Sep Pastel Show Featuring JoEllen Murphy and Mary Pritchard Sat Oct 7th
McGuire Fine Arts Gallery is pleased show case the work of both JoEllen Murphy and Mary Pritchard during the month of October. The opening reception will be held on October 7th from 4-7pm at McGuire Fine Arts Gallery. Both artists will be present to speak and discuss their work.
JoEllen considers herself primarily a plein air painter. However, many of her plein air pieces become larger studio paintings that she paints in her studio in Northwest Washington DC. She currently has representation at McGuire Fine Arts in Frederick, Maryland. She has been accepted and won awards in several national pastel shows. Murphy has been featured in Plein Air magazine and is a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, the Pastel Society of America, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Plein Air Painters and the Maryland Pastel Society. Her work is in the permanent collections of the US Department of State, The National Institutes of Health, the Shady Grove Adventist Aquilino Cancer Center, MD, the Chanticleer Gardens, PA and others.
Mary Pritchard received her B.A in studio art from Mount Holyoke College and has Master’s degrees in both art and journalism. She was corporate art curator for Ashland Inc. and has been a consultant to other Fortune 500 companies advising on the acquisition, installation and conservation of art. She coordinated traveling exhibitions for a variety of artists including Wolf Kahn. Following a career in education administration at the University of Delaware, she returned to painting fulltime. An award-winning pastel artist, she is known for her landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. She maintains a studio in historic Chestertown, MD.
