Mary Pritchard received her B.A in studio art from Mount Holyoke College and has Master’s degrees in both art and journalism. She was corporate art curator for Ashland Inc. and has been a consultant to other Fortune 500 companies advising on the acquisition, installation and conservation of art. She coordinated traveling exhibitions for a variety of artists including Wolf Kahn. Following a career in education administration at the University of Delaware, she returned to painting fulltime. An award-winning pastel artist, she is known for her landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. She maintains a studio in historic Chestertown, MD.
“A farmyard is filled with subject matter—buildings, fields, animals, and equipment—these appeal to artist and viewer on many levels. But my chief interest is in using these elements as a springboard to creating a new reality on the two-dimensional surface while exploring the tactile excitement of applying pastel to paper.”
