Lauren Beacham
“A lot of people ask me ‘Why polaroids?’ I’ve never been able to perfectly sum it up in words the love I have for them. A Polaroid is a photographic painting that uses light as its brush. The vintage colors and beautiful flaws are its characteristic charm. They are timeless and dated at the same time. I’ve heard some people say things like ‘they keep my favorite memories in perfect squares’ and ‘it’s beautiful agonizing anticipation and instant gratification at the same time.’ If that’s not a good enough reason to love them, I couldn’t tell you what is.”
Lauren was born in Maryland, grew up in the valleys of Virginia and plains of Wisconsin, and settled back into the mountains of West Virginia for the beginning of adulthood. She studied at Shepherd University and graduated top of her class in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography.
Inspired by the people and places surrounding her, she likes vegetables, hot air balloons, driving with the windows down, a good song; and humming makes her dizzy.
